Emily's First Ponytail!
I put Emily's hair in her first ponytail on Saturday! Her hair was already sticking up because she had a bath on Thursday night and that is the way her hair dried. So, to make it look like it was on purpose I decided to put it in a ponytail. It was kinda cute actually, it was lopsided because she moved around while I was trying to put it in =)....
Look, Look She tolerated...
TUMMY TIME! She cried a little but I told her she was fine and she actually tolerated it for longer than normal. She was so funny because she kept trying to "fly" and I told her that she needed to put her arms under her otherwise she would never learn to rollover or crawl. But she wouldn't listen to me....
We have a name...
And it is Raynauld's Disease. That is apparently why she is turning blue when she gets cold. So, I will finish the story of the saga....I called the Dr. on Monday and they couldn't get me in with our normal Dr., but they tell me that they can get me in with Wendy and she is PA or I can get in with Dr. Liston Tuesday morning at 8:30 am. I tell them I will take Tuesday morning, well after thinking bout it, I decided that I needed to get her in that afternoon. So, I call back and get in with Wendy. So, we go to the appointment and we stump the PA. She tells me that she is going to go talk to Dr. Fleming and so Dr. Fleming comes in. She basically tells me that she has nothing wrong with her but cold hands. She looks out the window and says it is cold outside so that is all it is. So, I leave and go home. Well, I started thinking about it that night and said that doesn't make sense to me at all. It has been cold 
outside for awhile and the house temp hasn't changed, daycare hasn't changed, nothing has changed. The next day comes around and I go in and her feet are blue now, so I decide to call and make a dr. appointment again. So, we get in with our actual Dr. and I tell her what has been going on. She listens to me and checks Emily out and notices that her feet are blue too. So, she starts to warm her feet up and they turn white and then pink. That is when she comes up with raynauld's disease. She assures me that she does not think that anything is serious and gives me this huge list of things that she doesn't have, so it makes me feel better. She thinks that Emily may outgrow it someday and it should be fine. I have read about it and nothing serious seems to inflict people with this disease. I feel better now that I have a name and know that it is truly nothing to worry about. So, we have turned up the heat to 72 degrees in her room and she seems to be less affected by it.Emily's New FAVORITE face

First ER experience
Today we had our first ER experience! Emily woke up from her nap at 1:15 pm and seemed perfectly normal to me. I picked her up and she was smiling at me and then I took her out to the 
living room and was changing her diaper. I was playing with her feet and she was kicking and having a good time, when I looked at her hands and they were BLUE! They were the deep blue/purply color that bruises turn when they are starting to form. Well, I do further stripping of her clothes and discover she is blue up to her elbows on both arms! I immediately start to worry. I was on the phone with Rebecca and she said, I don't know...and then she said, well she isn't drinking water so she can't have blue baby syndrome =) (Thanks for the laugh Becca.) So, I hang up with her and call Matt to tell him. He says call the dr. and I do, but I don't get through. So, then I call my friend Kristian (as she has a two-year old) to see if she had ever experienced this. She says no and to call the dr. I tell her I couldn't get through. So, then she looks online and finds a story about a woman who had a baby that had blue hands, well turns out that the baby had blue dye on her hands (thanks for the laugh Kristian=)). So, then I call a co-worker and ask her if she has ever experienced this and she says no. But she does give me the number to the local ped office here in town and then she says that it will give me the number to the local ped floor at the hospital. And I can call and talk to a nurse there. So, I do this and after about 10 rings, the nurse answers and I tell her that I have a 4.5 month old that has blue hands and arms up to her elbows. She says, " You need to hang up and call 911 right now." I then tell her that she is breathing fine and her arms are starting to pink up and she responds, " You need to hang up and call 911. If she is blue it means she is not getting oxygen and she needs to come to the ER by ambulance." So, this completely freaks me out and I start crying and I try to call Matt, get his voicemail, then call the auto center and can't get through and call his cell again. He answers and I am sobbing and tell him what the nurse says and I ask him if I should call 911. He says, no, just take her in and then he asks, " Do you want me to come home?" I say yes. Why would I not want him to come home?! So, he says he will be at ER in 45 minutes and I tell him the weather is bad so drive carefully and how in the world are you going to be here in 45 min? He says he will be fine, don't worry about him. So, then I proceed to call Kathy, my co-worker, and tell her what the nurse said and she said take her in and asked if I wanted her to meet me at the ER. I reply that I would. So, then I am running around the house trying to get ready to go to the ER and find her diaper bag, her hat and just shut the door to the basement with the dog down there. So, we get to the hospital and we check-in and they get us right in. The girl was really nice because I was completely freaking out and the nurse was sorta nice. I don't think she was too happy that I didn't call the ambulance just by the way she was talking to the other nurse about how I was told to call 911 but I brought her in by private car. Well, it is a blizzard out there and it would have been faster for me to drive her than wait for an ambulance to come. Besides she was breathing fine and at this point her hands and arms were completely pink!So, we are at the hospital and they hook her up to the heart rate, try and take her blood pressure, take her temp (rectally) (which she smiled through the whole thing, crazy baby!), do her heart rate and blood oxygen levels. All which turn out just normal. So, then we wait. Luckily Kathy and Denny waited with me until Matt came in and they stayed until the dr. got there. The Dr. was really nice and wasn't sure why it happened, but he did notice a little bluing around her thumbs and asked if that was what it looked like. It was. so, he went and got a warm blanket and put her on top of it and covered her up. He then said he was going to talk to the ultrasound tech to find out if a vascular study could be done on an infant and left. The nurse came in and said that he was waiting to talk to the ped on call and then we would be able to leave. I told her that he also said he was going to talk to the ultrasound tech. Well, the Dr. came back and said that basically we would need to follow-up with our Dr. tomorrow. Since he wanted the vascular study done, but really wanted the radiologist to be there, so it would have to wait till tomorrow. Well, if that was the case we could just get in with our regular Dr. tomorrow. He also said he talked to the Ped on call and they discussed that it couldn't have been cardiac related b/c she has no trouble eating. And in infants a stress test is eating, especially for breastfed babies and that wasn't the case with her. So, then the other dr. said it could be Harlequin coloring, which the ER dr. says he has never heard of. Well, then he asked if I was ok. and I said yes, but now I was terrified to let her sleep. So, he let us stay another half hour (b/c she was sleeping) to make sure she didn't turn blue again. After that we left.
Looked it up online and found harlequin coloring, but it really doesn't sound like what she has. It sounds like it more often shows up in newborns and is a red color not blue....Will keep you updated.
Baby It's Cold Outside...
It was freezing outside this weekend, so Emily and I did not go anywhere this weekend. I finally emerged last night to run to Wal-Mart and left Emily with Daddy. That was the only time we went out, except for the ER experience today.
Look at blowing snow and it is so cold, wind chills of -15 and a temp. of 3 F.

This doesn't look that comfortable to me. But she apparently liked it...she stayed that way for awhile.

New Toy
We bought this toy for Emily for Christmas and i just brought it out for her to play with. She really likes it and it sings the ABC songs and has lights on it!
