Today was a lazy day! Didn't dress Emily, she wore sweats all day and I didn't do her hair! I originally just put her in the sweats to feed her breakfast as she was still wearing her PJ's that was a sleep sack, so I couldn't put her in her highchair! Then I decided I didn't feel like going anywhere today and so we had a lazy day.

Bananas...

Today I introduced bananas to emily. I bought them about a week ago and have let them just sit to get good and ripe! And I finally gave them to Emily in a mesh feeder. She thought it was different! I am not sure if she liked the feeder or not or what she really thought of the bananas. I kept trying it though. I eventually took some of banana out and put on a tray and it was quite funny to watch Emily try and pick up the pieces of banana. It was slippery and it kept moving on her and she eventually just mashed it into the tray!!! She never did succeed in getting any of it to her mouth! She did seem to like the chunks when I put them in her mouth!

Teething pacifier

Ok, so this first pic did I time that right or what? Emily flung the pacifier and I caught it in mid air with the picture. It was the craziest thing when I looked and saw what I had caught. One in a million probably. So, anyways this is Emily's teething pacifier, the thing is absolutely huge but it has ridges on it that she can put in her mouth for teething. She looks ridiculous sucking on it but she seems to like it!

Sippy Cup Time...

So, I decided that I wanted Emily to learn to drink from a sippy cup. I will say that Matt thinks she is too young, but I disagree! We are working on it. When I take the non-spill valve out she hasn't figured out how to suck from it and gets mad. When I do take it out it comes out too fast and then she lets it flow down her chin! Everyday I keep trying it. Apparently at daycare she won't take it, Malisa says she screams at her. She was watched yesterday by Kelly and she said she wouldn't even suck on it, but with me she will try it! So, I keep trying it and maybe she will learn.

Butt Blister Appointment

On Thursday we went to U of M. Must admit this is the first time I have ever been to Ann Arbor and on U of M's campus! It was really strange to see it mixed in with the downtown, but it was really interesting! So, we made our way to the UMHS hospital and found our parking garage and realized it was a good thing we got there about 30 minutes early as it took us FOREVER to find a parking spot in the garage and then once we got in the building it took me a minute to figure out where we were supposed to be going! So, I showed the paper work to Matt and we figured it out and went down to dermatology and went in to check-in. Well, she then directed us to information/registration because we needed to update our insurance information and get her Blue card. So, we do that, and for the life of me I have no idea what the point of a Blue card is, because NO ONE asked for one! Anywho, we go back to dermatology and check in. Now, it is a very strange thing being in a teaching hospital because the person that brings us to our shoebox of a room was a Medical Assistant who tells us what to expect. She informs us that first a resident will come in and talk to us and then the Dr. instructor will come in.

Well, first the resident dr. comes in and she brings with her a family practice dr. making her round of dermatology. So, she talks to me and I show her the pictures of her butt (yes, I took pictures and I even had to take them to Meijer's at 8:00 pm the night before! It was pretty embarrasing because I couldn't get the pics to print so the HP lady had to help me and then looked at them all!!!) I pull out my food journal and she is impressed by my organization. She looks at Emily and has me take her diaper off and what did she do, she pooped! which worked out though because she did break out with her blisters!!!! So, she tells me that she will be going to get the dr. and will be back. Well, Emily gets really fussy and is hungry, so I sit down to feed her a nd what happens the whol calvery shows up! This time, we have the resident, the family dr., the instructor dr and another mystery person all standing in this tiny tiny room! So, the Dr. looks at Emily and I give my story again and she looks and of course this time, her blisters are gone already. But they talk in their medical jargon and this is about what I got out of the conversation, "Blah Blah Blah, Well do you think it could be blah blah blah, No, I think it is just something something dermatitis. Oh yeah and look here she has a yeast and needs to be prescribed clometra something. And then I interject with her blueness and they have no idea and say it isn't related to the current problem. They also inform me that they have never heard of an infant with Ranauld's. But she does have really cold feet. So, then the Dr./instructor leaves and so does the mystery girl and we are left with the resident and the family practice doctor. So, the resident then explains what they had talked about and tells me that they don't really know what it is. That they do not thnk that it is food related in the sense of eliminating foods out. Their theory was that she may have this the rest of her diaper career as they call it or it could just go away as her body adjusts to having solids in it. She tells me that they are going to prescribe a steroid cream to use when she has outbreaks and that we shoud not use it everyday for a long time, because it will cause her skin to become thin. She said that we could use it about 3 times per week and that will allow for time between the applications. She said that we could use it for long periods of time if needed. She also writes down the name of a anti-fungal cream we need to buy for her yeast spot in the fold of her skin. And says she doesn't think they need to see her again, unless it gets worse.

So, that was our U of M experience. We went to Canton and had lunch and went to Target and we were going to go to Ikea, but decided not to and just went home! Oh yeah and the anti-fungal cream we had to buy was for Athlete's foot! Matt went to Walgreens to fill the prescription and buy this stuff and he looked all over for it. He went to the baby aisle and didn't see it there, then he went to the womanly cream section and didn't see it and then finally found it among the manly section. And he was all set to blame this on me!!!!

6 Month Doctor Appointment

Ok, so it really was a 6 1/2 month Dr. Appointment since I was late, but what can you do (it was on March 26). So, not a whole lot to report except that Emily weighs in at 15 lbs 1/2 oz, 25 1/4" long, and has a head circumference of 16 1/2" now. She has unfortunately dropped in her weight percentile curve, she now falls on the 35th percentile curve and before she was following he 50th-70th percentile curve. Our Dr. isn't worried though as she said she is becoming more active and sitting takes more energy and rolling does than just laying. It was funny because I thought for sure she would be a chunky monkey because she has the rolls and the chubby cheeks, but she isn't that big. Her height stayed at the 50th percentile curve, and her head circumference is fine now.

The poor girl had to get shots again. This time though she only had to get 2 instead of 3! Matt didn't go with me and it broke my heart when the nurse stuck her with the needles. She cried and cried. Everyone commented on how pretty she was and how much hair she had that day too. Dr. Liston asked when we were going to U of M and I told her we were headed there on Thursday (the next day). She said good and was really curious about what they would say. I told her that that morning she had broke out in the blisters again at daycare. She hadn't had them since I started keeping track of what she was eating and the funny thing was I didn' introduce anything new to her that night or day. So, she said it was good that we still go and make sure to bring up her turning blue in case that had anything to do with it (she didn't think it would but it was worth mentioning). I asked about Emily not rolling over fromher tummy to her back, but she was now rolling from her back to her tummy. Dr. Liston looked at me and said No she wasn't worried and what do you think she did that night?! Yeah, that is right she rolled from her tummy to her back! So, I now know that she can do and don't have to worry about that. I also asked about how much food she should be eating because we were currently only giving her 1/2 a container of baby food (which a full container is 2.5 oz) and afterwards she still seemed like she wanted more. Dr. Liston told me to go ahead and give her the whole thing if she wants it and that we should let her lead in how much she eats. That pretty much wrapped up the visit! We scheduled her 9 month appointment for July 2 and that one there are no shots! Yeah!!!!

The Many Faces of Emily

Dumb Preggo Moment and I'm not preggo anymore...

So, Emily was supposed to have her Dr. Appt. for her 6 month check-up on Friday. Well, I had thought the appointment was at 10:45 am and when I looked on my calendar I saw that it was written down as 11:45. So, I assume that I was confusing the time with something else and proceed about my day. We get to the Dr. office and they give me this strange look when I say I had an 11:45 appointment. She looks it up and says, Actually your appointment was at 10:45! She then goes back to see if our Dr can squeeze us in and she can't so we had to re-schedule. Her new appointment is now on Wednesday at 2:30 pm!

On another note, I don't think I stated when we go to U of M for Emily's butt blisters. We have the appointment set for Thursday at 11:15! So, both Matt and I are taking that day off and of to Ann Arbor we go. I am not sure how relevant the appt. is going to be since she hasn't been getting the blisters lately. Her butt still turns red and has bumps on it though! That was one thing I was going to talk to the dr. about was if we still needed to go, but since her new appointment isn't until Wed. afternoon, I will go ahead and keep it. It is only gonna cost us our co-pay and a trip to Ann Arbor and who knows maybe we will do some shopping =)

Happy St. Patty's Day.....Yeah Yeah I know I am late

When I went to the mall on Sunday, I also stopped at Kohl's!!!! Arrrggghhhh my downfall, Kohl's. Well of course they had their carter's St. Patty day clothes 50% off, so I HAD to buy this dress....

Look how Emily was caught sleeping...

Ever since Emily has learned to roll over she has occassionally landed on her tummy. This is how I found her on Monday, March 17! She has also been known to grab her paci and put it in her mouth and go back to sleep on her tummy. Sometimes though she is still not liking her tummy, as the other night Matt went in at 10:30 pm and she was crying cause she was on her tummy and he rolled her over and back to bed she went!
