Em came in to sleep with me at like 2 am last night. She instantly cuddled with me and fell asleep. I didn't have the heart to move her. How can you say no to this?! But I slept pretty terrible after she came to bed, between the hands in my face, the kicking, the switching sides of bed because Emily had me hanging off....;)

Look she did it by herself! Took some convincing but I got her to go in and I sat in the door today!!! That is progress!!! So proud of her!

Yankee Springs Recreation Area

I took Em to Yankee Springs Recreation Area today for her very first hike! It was an interesting experience, we chose to do the Sassafras Trail, which was a mile loop. I was hoping Em would at least walk half a mile of it, and that hope lasted all of two seconds. I will say, she is sick, coming down with a cold, so that didn't help and didn't have a nap, but still, I was hoping :) It was an easy trail that I could have brought her stroller on, but didn't know that when we started, so she spent a good deal of the hike on my shoulders. I talked to her about the importance of being quiet when we were in the woods, so we could listen to the sounds. We heard a Downy Woodpecker and saw it, and heard quite a few other birds. She told me at one point, that isn't an owl ;) We sat on a bench and listened to the sounds and picked up acorns. At one point Kelly and I were talking and Em told us to be quiet to listen for the birds :) I am going to raise her to be a nature lover. I am excited that she went today.

After the hike, we went to the lake and there she played. She loves the water and is my little fish. She got her pants completely soaked and I had to change her when we got back to the car, but that was ok. It was fun and she enjoyed it with Kelly. Mommy was smart and sat on the beach while Kelly got wet :)
