PeePee in the Potty...ChaChaCha

Alright, as you can guess we have a brand new development! Let me start from the beginning....when we give Emily a bath, we have her sit on her potty. Which she readily does now. Well, tonight was bath night and I had her sit on her potty and she was sitting there while the bath water was running and I left to get a towel. When I get back to the bathroom I see her standing in the doorway and I happen to glance down at the potty and realize it is full! I look at it and then her and tell her, "Emily you went peepee in the potty! I am so proud of you!" I then pick it up and tell her that her peepee belongs in the big potty and I dump it in and then tell her we flush the toilet. She looked at the toilet and then ran to the bathtub, almost like so what?!

I don't think Emily realized what she had done, but I made a big deal of it! We called Daddy at work and Grandma and Grandpa Beckman to tell them the good news and Emily was a chatty cathy tonight too. She told Grandpa Hi, Gave him a Kiss, said Night Night and Bye Bye (including a wave).

On another note, Emily's Early On Appointment is scheduled for tomorrow. So, we will decide how we want to proceed with her speech. I believe I am going to go through with it, even though Matt is against it. He says that all kids develop at different rates (which I agree with), but I also think that if I can learn better ways to encourage Emily to talk I am all for that. I will let you know what is going on as soon as I know more.

This weekend we will be absent as we are heading to Grand Rapids tomorrow to spend the night at a friend's house and then on Saturday we are meeting up with friends to head to the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City. I am not looking forward to the 4 hour drive back home on Sunday, and I am hoping that emily will be on her best behavior this weekend! I hope that she also likes the waterpark, and I am not just wasting money on this, especially since it i just Emily and I.

Oh yes, one more thing we had our very FIRST PUBLIC MELTDOWN on Sunday of this week! We went to Battle Creek for the day to do some shopping and to take a look at carpeting andflooring for our basement. We had got done eating lunch and decided to hit Lowe's first. Well, Matt goes to get Emily out of her carseat and she is screaming for me. I told her that she was ok and could stay with Daddy and she continues to scream into the store. I tell Matt that I will take her and I carry her in to the paint department, still screaming trying to calm her down. To no avail, so we continue to walk to the flooring department. There I try and put her in the cart and she refuses, I put her on the ground and she stands there SCREAMING at the top of her lungs! At this point, people are walking around very pointedly staring at us!!!! i am mortified, Matt is furious and we have no idea what to do. Well, the decision is made to go ahead and leave the store, so Matt carries her out because I was trying to put her in the cart still and he says he is tired of this....so I am pushing the cart and he is in front carrying Emily like a board. I see her feet on one side kicking and she is still SCREAMING and as we are walking out, people are still staring. We get to the front of the door and I see these Girl Scouts selling Cookies and I hear them say to Matt, "Do you want to......." and then silence as they see us coming with a screaming child. we get to the car and the screaming still doesn't stop! It takes about 10 minutes of driving before she finally falls asleep. Once home she slept until 4:30 that afternoon! Ugghhhh...the embarrassment.

Toes

Alright, I painted Emily's Toes! They are a very light pink and you can't even see it to tell the honest truth, they are just shinier than normal. Matt wasn't happy, but oh well, she showed such an interest. I was on the bathroom floor painting my toes, when she came in, sat on the floor and stared. I asked her if she wanted hers done and she put her foot out. So, I did it. She sat nice and still for me and as you can see still has a fascination with painted toes....

Swingin' Good Times...

Emily LOVES swinging! We were at some friends house playing on their playset which Emily adored and of course they had a swing! Emily loved the slide but her very favorite is the swing, once in it is hard to get her out! She also got to eat her very first Ice Cream Cone without any assistance from Me. She made a mess, but I think she thoroughly enjoyed it!

Beautiful Days

We have had some absolutely beautiful days lately! We have been enjoying the outdoors with sidewalk chalk (which she loves), taking walks, and playing with our car.

Busy Busy Busy

Sorry it has been awhile since I posted! It has been a long week. I was sick and still am, trying to get over a cold/sinus issues at this moment and Matt is either fighting off a stomach bug or has an ulcer, either one is a toss up! Emily is fairly healthy, just a minor cough going on but nothing major. We went to Muskegon this weekend, as was planned, and VERY SORRY TO THOSE WE DIDN"T GET TO SEE. But we wanted to try and stay away from anyone that might be susceptible to catching anything we may be carrying around. We almost didn't go, but it was decided that it would be ok to stay at Trevor and Stephanie's house for the weekend, especially since Avery wasn't around and that they had plans for us! So, we had a busy weekend....

On Emily News Front:

1. Emily went to the dentist again! The reason...her 2 front teeth are turning a light brown color!!!!!!!!! Ok, we think it is from the fall that she took down the basement stairs and of course, Matt freaks me out (which isn't hard to do on Thursday!). I am staying home that day because I was not feeling well at all and I notice that Emily's 2 front teeth have a brown tinge to them on the top half! Well, I show it to Matt and he says, "Yep, her front teeth are dying and they are going to turn black and have to come out!" I freak out and decide to call the dentist right away. So, I do and they answer the phone and I start to tell them the story and that her two front teeth are slightly brown on the top half. Well, I need a cleaning so I schedule it for 2 pm and they tell me to bring her in also. Yeah, I went to dentist when I was sick but oh well. Once there, Emily freaks out when sitting on my lap and the dentist walks in. So, he tells me, Why don't you just open her mouth and I will look, since I think me putting on a gown and mask will make it worse. Well, ok, of course Emily clamps her mouth shut and wants nothing to do with that, but I manage and he says, "oh yes I see it now" Then he tells me in dr. generalize that he isn't sure what will happen. That teeth do funny things and it may get worse and the coloring may get worse or it will stop where it is, but at this point he said there is nothing they will do since they do not appear to be in pain, swollen (the gum), or red (the gum), so just watch it. And let them know if there is a major change. Great, my beautiful daughter's teeth are going to turn black and she will be ridiculed until she is 5 and loses her front teeth. Which, I think my dentist was trying to make me feel better about her teeth when he tells me, "don't worry, most kids start to lose their 2 front teeth by the age of 5...." Great only 3 years of mean kids picking on her! Let's hope for the best and that the coloring doesn't get any worse and that her adult teeth are going to be just fine!

2. Early On, still haven't heard from them, but I still want to pursue it, especially after being around such articulate little children all weekend!

3. We may be going to the Great Wolf Lodge!!!! The new people we met this weekend are all planning a trip there in 2 weeks and Emily and I may just tag along....so be looking for those pictures! It also means I have to go shopping for new swimsuits...what a bummer that is...=)

Easter Morning...

Here was what greeted Emily on Easter Morning. I really believe the Easter Bunny was especially good to Emily this year! She loved it!

For Easter we went over to a friends house here at home. We almost went to Muskegon for the day but my family was not getting together that day, so the decision was made not to go. We ate way too much and enjoyed a fun Easter Egg Hunt and then playing outside in the afternoon. The only downside was I forgot to bring diapers!?!?! What kind of Mom does that, well apparently I do. I realized it when I was sitting in the Wal-Mart parking lot after I had already bought what was needed. I had one diaper in my car (which I usually have more than that, but had just cleared out a bunch of diapers that were too small) and thought well we should be ok. While there, just as the Easter baskets were coming out, Emily pooped, so I changed her diaper and told her she couldn't poop again or we would have to leave. Can you see where this is going?

Well we enjoy a lovely easter egg hunt and playing outside with sidewalk chalk and jumping on the trampoline, when I realize she has pooped again. So, I tell our friends we have to go and instead of leaving instantly, we go inside and have Apple Pie and Ice Cream!!!!! hahaha....So, then we leave and head home and my car reeeeekkkkkksssss at this point, so the windows are down! It was a bad diaper I won't go into details but I swear I used about 15 wipes to get it all off! That teaches me and to say the least I now have 6 diapers in my car along with more wipes =)

Egg Dying Adventure

We went over to a friend's house to dye Easter Eggs with their two kids. We know them through daycare and we had a lot of fun that day! Emily quickly lost interest in the eggs once she realized I wasn't going to let her play in the dye water and that it was no fun to sit and wait for eggs to be done! So, she was off playing while I did her eggs for her, but that didn't stop her from beating the eggs once they were done! Good thing they were hardboiled!

Emily's favorite toy when we go over to their house....

Waiting (notice she still has her normal clothes on here...)
"Mom, can I please have?"Naked Baby now.....realizing what a disaster dye would be on her clothes...

A new shirt, that she could get dirty....

Easter Egg Hunt (the first one)

These are the pics of the first Easter Egg Hunt that we did at the Ball Diamonds near our house. It is sponsored by the local Jaycees and is actually quite nice as the diamonds were divided into various age groups and the first group to go was the 1-3 year old group. It was a nice sunny day, but super windy and chilly, even though the event started at noon. We choose to walk down there, so I had quite a bit of gear, including her large stroller, the camera, the video camera and trying to get Emily to get eggs! So, needless to say we didn't get many because between me trying to get pictures, take a video and push the stroller, I held up the presses big time! But Emily had fun and that was all that mattered!
